Your E nglish speaking driver will meet you in your Hotel in Rome or by your ship in Civitavecchia Port for a relaxing day in Tivoli.
This little town is the site of an imposing architectural complex dating to Emperor Hadrian’s time during the golden age of the Empire. This was Hadrian’s vision which until today the remaining take you back in time as you pass and visit series of palaces, baths, theatres, etc. Construction started in 118 AD until 134 AD. The idea behind the massive complex was to remind him of the places he most loved such as Greece and Egypt.
After spending the morning in the Ancient Hadrian’s Villa, your driver will take you to the upper town where you have time to enjoy a fantastic lunch and visit the most beautiful gardens in Italy, Villa D’Este, deservedly famous for its magic atmosphere.Built on the ruins of a Roman villa, it was first first a Benedictine convent and eventually the Governor’s Palace, work started by Pirro Ligorio, on the commission by governor at the time, Ippolito d’Este, around 1550. This Villa, with the five hundred fountains, the age and rarity of the trees, is certainly one of the finest gardens that can be founded both in and outside Italy.
After your day in the magical town of Tivoli, it is time to head back to your Hotel in Rome or to the Port of Civitavecchia.

Do you offer the Tivoli excursion from the port of Civitavecchia? Our ship will dock from 0700 to 2000 on 23 Oct and again on 2 November. Will the fountains be in operation at this time of year? What are the tour details and prices. Thank you ~~~ Ed
